The UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen has come to an end. Kofi Annan asks for your continued support in the fight for Climate Justice and has issued the following statement in light of the agreement made:
"The Copenhagen Summit has just come to an end. Over the past six months you, and millions of others around the world, have become involved in the campaign for climate justice. You have signed the petition, uploaded your tcks, downloaded the campaign song, joined the facebook group, and petitioned your political leaders. You successfully helped increase political pressure on world leaders to attend the Copenhagen Summit. They were supposed to have agreed to a meaningful and equitable deal.
"Like you, I am disappointed at the outcome but this only increases our determination to maintain the pressure on the leaders to do the right thing: a binding agreement based on solid scientific evidence and on the principle of climate justice.
"I would like to thank you for your solid support and commitment to this cause. It is because of individuals like you that I remain convinced that we can overcome the climate challenge and leave a just and better world for our children.
"The fight is not over. I urge each and every one of you not to waiver in your commitment to a safe and better world. Together we can make it happen."
